**Required Qualifications: (As evidenced by an attached resume)**

High School Diploma (equivalent) or higher. Three years of full time progressively responsible administrative experience in a medical setting. Previous experience working with word processing, organizational and communication skills. Must be detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks simutaneously.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

Prior experience scheduling cardiology appointments, tests and procedures as well as obtaining authorizations. Familiarity with Master Scheduling on the IDX system.

**Brief Description of Duties:**

Under the direct supervision of the medical practice plan administrator, the AAI will be responsible for the following duties;

+ Responsible for managing the clinic appointments for assigned cardiologists and fellows. Must ensure completeness and accuracy of their scheduled clinics and all ancillary work involved including scheduling/confirming appointments, scheduling tests, following up with results, entering data into IDX (SBU clinical appointment scheduling system) obtaining authorizatrions, pulling medical records and handling doctor inquireies. Troubleshoot scheduling problems using the Master Scheduling program on IX.

+ Provide general administrative secretarial support to attending physicans in cardiology as needed. Answer incoming phone calls in a timely manner and respond to patient inquiries, requests for appointments, prescription renewals, doctor inquiries and clearances. Enter data into IDX (SBU clinical appointment scheduling system). Maintain attending physicians' calendars to include organizing and arranging meetings. Responsible for processing transcriptions for doctors, correcting and forwarding completed letters to outside office/physicians as needed.

+ Assist Coordinator for Interventional Cardiology with scheduling these procedures in the SBUH Cath lab using the US Surgery scheduling system for entering patient data, interacting with outside cardiology offices to schedule their patients for procedures, preparing charts for preadmission and ensuring that all supporting documentation is received.

+ Handle phone calls for routine divisional matters -- patient and physician phone calls.

+ Other duties as assigned.
